I keep saying I may never fly again, and I may never cross the border again, even though we’re only about three hours from Canada. This story just firms my resolve. Here’s a guy who’s been a US citizen for 23 years. He’s been interrogated 8 times, his smart phone searched in the process. I’ll let him take it from here:
“I’ve been asked how many times I pray — they already knew which mosque I belonged to,” said Khaki, 50, a corporate executive who has been a U.S. citizen since leaving England 23 years ago. “I’ve had to unlock my phone and show them my scheduled tasks, calendar and contacts.”
“I asked an official why they keep looking into me,” Khaki said. “He said, ‘If you want to avoid hassle, don’t cross borders.’”
At least not US borders.
