The finches and junkos and jays and doves come to my feeders and pig out. They argue among themselves over who gets which perch, so from a photographers perspective, they’re sitting ducks.

Some of my other visitors, though, sneak in, grab a seed, and take off again, making them much more difficult targets. This includes the chickadees, nuthatches, and especially the cardinals. Well, I finally caught this pair, and I realized that what they say about the female is true – she’s wearing lipstick. :)
