These are not the best pictures I’ve ever taken, but they are among the most unusual. I noticed my neighbor’s berry bushes covered with birds this afternoon, maybe 50 – 75 of them. I assumed they were starlings, until a bunch of them came across the road to my trees – and then I thought I was hallucinating. I ran to get the camera so you, too, can hallucinate, on this December 22nd, 2008, in upstate New York, with a couple feet of snow on the ground …

    I’m just confused, 3C. Shouldn’t they have been long gone by now? We normally start looking for them in late Feb/early Mar … definitely not December!
