@Jay The scripture you quoted is excellent in this regard. Jesus has all authority, and based on that authority, he told us to make disciples and teach them to be obedient to His commands. As long as we stay within the parameters He set for us, we can't lose.

@Mrs. M. Dominionism is pervasive, and so many Christians have swallowed the koolaid. I marvel, but I mourn, as well.

@Jon-Paul Thanks for your kind words, and you're welcome to rant here anytime. It appears neither one of us have a fondness for "church doctrine" or hierarchical denominational structures - which, by the way, nondenominational churches use as well, they just write their own version. In fact, here's my very own from my "about" page:

My Creed

For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. 1Corinthians 2:2

Where do we find a precept in the Bible for Creeds, Confessions, Doctrines and Oaths, and whole carloads of trumpery that we find religion encumbered with in these days? -John Adams

Absolutely brilliant! Oh the Holy Spirit leaps within me when I am moved by such realism. Since the dawning of humankind we have attempted to do everything we could to somehow cuddle the reins of God's awesomeness. Humankind I'm certain, will always be arrogant, know-it-alls, who somehow think in their preverted little minds that they can control God.

I have since a very young age loathed "church doctrine." I to this day believe that doctrine is humankind's attempt at putting the unfathomable God somehow to their level. Denominations are certainly up there as well.

When people use the expression of, "Oh you're a Christian...where's your God now? Why does he kill little babies? Your God is no loving God to me..."

In response I simply and quite calmly state: Oh my God is right here; what makes you think it's God doing any killing -- look around you and see what we've done to His planet -- God is not the one who made you smoke, take LSD, get strung out on heroine, or contact HIV-AIDS; and by the way, when was the last time you attempted to tell God that you even appreciate anything he's ever done for you..?

I'm ranting here...but it's because of a good ol' fashioned brain message through your post. I thank you! Blessings to you and yours,

Yep, dominionism is pretty pervasive. I agree with Jay-- all authority is His!

Like John in the Book of Revelation, I marvel.

Hello Jean,
Excellent though provoker! I've been thinking of this very topic: Many people believe that Satan is the one who has dominion, but as the Bible says-

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. GO THEREFORE and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

It's very interesting to me that the Holy Spirit has dominion on the earth, and He uses us to further His kingdom! Great post, Jean!
