My husband found this tonight on a forum he follows. I thought it would be especially useful for Rebecca and her family as they renovate their whole downstairs.

There are three important rules that must be followed for any mechanical repair:

Rule #1 – ALWAYS use the correct tool for any mechanical repair.

Rule #2 – A hammer is the correct tool for any mechanical repair.

Rule #3 – Anything can be used as a hammer.

Census Shenanigans

In the tradition of fine bureaucrats everywhere, someone determined that census workers must have background checks. Apparently the procedures don’t tell them what to do when someone fails that check, so at least in one case, they just ignored it.

A woman in NJ recognized her local census worker, going door to door through family-friendly neighborhoods - because he was a registered sex offender. After the cops arrested him, it was determined that he had failed the background check, but he was trained and sent out anyway.

On a cheerier note, here are a couple different ways to deal with census workers when they knock on your door.

After watching the last video I posted, my blogger buddy Jim commented that he no longer wants to watch cop videos because they fill him with “useless, pointless rage.”

Being a compassionate sort, and hating to see him give up cop videos, I searched YouTube for funny cop videos. There weren’t many, and I had to go to Britain to find one that wasn’t filled with profanity, but Jim? This one’s for you.

Yep. After a series of storms generated localized flooding in Tennessee, some teens decided to ‘make hay while the sun shines,’ as we’d say in these parts. Local cops, taking advantage of an opportunity they don’t often get in ocean-challenged Tennessee, subsequently arrested them for … surfing?

Not sure what the charges against the kids were, but I hereby charge the cops with being seriously humor-challenged.

Democrats ram Obamacare down our throats
CEO’s of major corporations announce the costs of said Obamacare, as required by law
Lead democrat Waxman has a hissy fit and calls said CEO’s, including Stephenson of AT&T, to appear at a committee hearing
This blogger, akaGaGa, writes a letter of regret on behalf of Stephenson, explaining why he won’t can’t comply attend
Waxman cancels the hearing.

If that’s not cause and effect, I don’t know what is.
