Remember Steven Bierfeldt, the Campaign for Liberty guy who was detained and grilled by the TSA in St. Louis because he was carrying $4700 cash?  Here’s the story, in case you’ve forgotten.

Bierfeldt subsequently filed a law suit against TSA that, amazingly enough, has had a positive result.  St. Louis Today is reporting that “the incident has yielded revised rules requiring TSA agents to stick to matters related to flight security rather than policing airports for other crimes.”

What?  The airport guys don’t have official permission to torment and harrass us about anything they choose?  They actually have been told to recognize that the Constitution limits their actions?  Who’d have ever thunk?

Lest you think I’ve completely lost my skepticism, it still remains to be seen whether they’ll actually follow the new policy or not.

You can read Bierfeldt’s press release on Huffpo.

You’d think this would take the pressure off the fat people … but they’ll probably be banned next, right before the Statue of Liberty.

Note that in this CBSTV.com “New York Health News” report, they list the following “related” slideshows:

  • Celebrities in Playboy
  • Openly Gay Celebrities
  • More Openly Gay Celebrities
  • and Jennifer Aniston, half naked on the cover of GQ

So excuse me. I need to go wash my eyes out with soap.

New York City’s famous parks may be going smoke-free. The city’s health commissioner says the next goal in Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s anti-tobacco crusade is to ban smoking at city parks and beaches.

New York City has more than 1,700 parks, playgrounds and recreation facilities. The Parks Department is also in charge of 14 miles of beaches.

Health Commissioner Thomas Farley says New Yorkers shouldn’t have to breathe second-hand smoke, even outside. He says children shouldn’t even have to see people smoking.

Bloomberg faced a tough political battle when he banned smoking in restaurants and bars in 2002.

Bloomberg introduced Farley as new commissioner in May. He took over on June 8 for Thomas Frieden, who was named last week by President Obama to helm the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.

“I’m honored to be entrusted with the best public health agency in the country,” said Farley, who spent a year in New York in 2007 working as a senior advisor to Frieden as the Department rolled out new policies on posting calories in restaurants.

Betsy McCaughey, in an interview with former presidential candidate Fred Thompson on his radio show warned people to “protect their parents” from the measure and said the consultation is essentially an attempt to kill off elderly Americans.

She also stated in this report from LifeNews that the message to patients is “to do what’s in society’s best interests, and cut your life short.”

In other words, old people are a non-productive drain on the state. No wonder Obama says we’re not a Christian nation.

***WARNING***

The following post may be hazardous to your blood pressure. Consult your primary care physician before reading.

After months of Obamese about the joys of a federal health care system, it’s easy to get worn down and just ignore it. But some things just jump out and bite your butt, like the following.

Peter Fleckenstein has been (gasp!) actually reading the bill and posting tweets about what’s in it. Robert Wenzel at For Freedom’s Sake has collected “Fleckman’s” comments in a single post. Thanks to both, but DO NOT read the whole list if you have high blood pressure.

Here’s a sample:

Pg 22 of the HC Bill MANDATES the Govt will audit books of ALL EMPLOYERS that self insure!!

Pg 30 Sec 123 of HC bill – THERE WILL BE A GOVT COMMITTEE that decides what treatments/benes u get

First Barrel: If you didn’t know any better, you’d think that the feds had saved us from the world’s worst terrorist right nearby in Ogdensburg. The number keeps changing, but they seized somewhere between 175 and 400 weapons from John Rumble, along with a lot of ammunition. This guy was planning something really big, right?

Well, a friend of his said “his father was a World War II veteran who started a collection of war memorabilia to which Mr. Rumble himself continued to add.”

Another friend described him “as a survivalist who disapproves of a large, activist government.”

One report said he had a “bunker full of food” and another that he was wearing a ballistic vest when he was arrested.

The feds say he was associated with a drug-trafficking ring, apparently based on two different anonymous sources, one of whom will not face any charges, but they only found some marijuana residue at Rumble’s home.

And Rumble has a Federal Firearms License. And he was arrested without firing a shot.

Some terrorist.

Second Barrel:

The raid makes a lot more sense, though, when you take a look at another profiling report that has been leaked, this one from the Department of Homeland Security, titled Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.

Here’s some of the commentary from Infowars:

According to the DHS and FBI, local law enforcement’s primary concern should be the high volume of gun and ammunitions purchases over the last few months. The document equates Americans who stockpile ammunition to “rightwing terrorists.” Moreover, stockpiling (merely purchasing) ammunition is an indication of involvement in “paramilitary training exercises” and potential terrorist activity.

According to the Irish Times, the “stockpiling” of ammunition and increased firearm sales are due to the fear Obama will impose new gun laws and other restrictions. “Gun-shop owners and the National Rifle Association (NRA) say the surge is driven by worries that President Obama is planning to ban many types of firearms and that the deepening economic crisis will fuel a crime wave.”

If we are to believe the DHS and the FBI, these Americans, numbering in the millions, are violence prone terrorists and a threat to local law enforcement. In addition, as noted below, concerns about crime due to a worsening economy are paranoid fantasies exploited by terrorists.

The document states that job losses, home foreclosures, and the collapsing economy are “perceived” by rightwing terrorists and exploited by them to “draw in new recruits” and further radicalize “those already subscribing to extremist beliefs.” According to the document, the economic crisis is a perception without a foundation in reality, merely an exaggerated device used by terrorists.

In other words, if you complain about the faltering economy reported upon numerous times a day by the corporate media you are a rightwing extremist and a terrorist who may resort to violence and threaten local law enforcement, especially if you support the Second Amendment, own firearms, and “stockpile” (purchase) ammunition.

And a footnote in the document divides “rightwing terrorists” into two categories — “adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely.”

So if you’re worried about the economy, Second Amendment rights, and think the feds have usurped power that belongs to the states and the people – you’re a right-wing extremist.

Welcome to the club.
