<p>If you missed the GOP debate last night, <a href="http://tinyurl.com/6j7uu4f">click here </a>to see a video of Ron Paul&#8217;s answers. A couple other notes:</p>
<ul>
<li>Ron Paul&#8217;s recently-released fiscal &#8220;PLAN TO RESTORE AMERICA&#8221; includes: cutting spending by $1 trillion in the first year; a balanced budget by year three; lowers the corporate tax rate to 15%, making America competitive in the global market; and eliminates 5 cabinet departments. <a href="http://tinyurl.com/6za2trj">Here&#8217;s</a> the whole plan.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Believe it or not, Rush Limbaugh endorsed Paul&#8217;s fiscal plan. <a href="http://ht.ly/71pSK">Quote</a>: &#8220;Ron Paul has a good idea… fooling around the margins isn’t going to get it done… genuine big spending cuts are the only thing that is going to bring us back&#8221;</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Political donors have to declare who they work for. The <a href="http://tinyurl.com/3jpofeb">top three employers</a> of Ron Paul contributors are: US Air Force, US Army, &amp; US Navy.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Pew Research has completed <a href="http://tinyurl.com/3dn3fac">a study</a> that shows that the biased mainstream media really has been blacking out coverage of Ron Paul&#8217;s campaign, despite his results in various straw polls.  My <a href="http://tinyurl.com/676q4bj">favorite headline</a>: &#8220;Michelle Bachman wins Ames Straw Poll, Tim Pawlenty Finishes Third.&#8221; Politico (oops!) forgot to mention that Ron Paul came in second, nearly beating Bachman in her native state.</li>
</ul>
<p>So why am I documenting all this? I promise I won&#8217;t bombard you with political stuff, but I believe that Ron Paul is the only candidate who truly supports a limited federal government and the constitution that&#8217;s supposed to limit it. I also believe that this election is the last one that could correct the course of our country. If it doesn&#8217;t happen now, it&#8217;s not going to happen.</p>
<p>And I have put my money where my mouth is. For the first time in my life, I changed my voter registration from independent to republican so I can vote in the primary next year. And I made a contribution, also for the first time, to Paul&#8217;s political campaign.</p>

<p>Check it out. His positions on the issues are easy to find and clearly spelled out. You may discover that he&#8217;s not such a wacko after all. You might even want to contribute to his one-day campaign today to raise money.</p>
<p>Or not. I&#8217;m just sharing information, not twisting arms.</p>

<p>According to their<a href="http://www.pcpublicaffairs.com/more-news-here/" class="broken_link"> temporary website</a>, PC Public Affairs is a new public affairs firm being formed by Frederico Polsinelli and Andre Claridge, with offices in Albany, New York City, and Washington, D.C.</p>
<p>So it appears that we won&#8217;t get to hear Al on the radio, but perhaps he&#8217;ll share more details about his new position when he MC&#8217;s this year&#8217;s  <a href="http://blog.timesunion.com/capitol/archives/24312/tea-party-plans-april-17-gathering-at-corning-preserve/" class="broken_link">Tea Party on Saturday, April 17th</a>, from noon to 2 pm, at the Corning Preserve in Albany.</p>
<p>We wish you well, Al, and will continue to miss you.</p>

<blockquote><p>Asked what her advice would be to conservatives as the November elections approach, Palin first lavished praise on the Tea Party movement, calling it &#8220;a grand movement&#8221; and adding, &#8220;I love it because it’s all about the people.&#8221;</p>
<p>But she quickly pivoted to the broader question of whether the Tea Party movement might successfully field its own candidates in national elections, and on that point she sounded far from convinced.</p>
<p>&#8220;Now the smart thing will be for independents who are such a part of this Tea Party movement to, I guess, kind of start picking a party,&#8221; Palin said. &#8220;Which party reflects how that smaller, smarter government steps to be taken? Which party will best fit you? And then because the Tea Party movement is not a party, and we have a two-party system, they’re going to have to pick a party and run one or the other: ‘R’ or ‘D’.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>That&#8217;s a bit like telling the prisoner to stop whining and decide which leg he wants amputated.  She&#8217;s either politically savvy and trying to hijack the tea-party movement &#8211; or she&#8217;s stupid and really doesn&#8217;t get it.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t think she&#8217;s stupid.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Most Christians that I know, if given a choice, would vote for Sarah Palin over Barrack Obama.  Palin embodies the positions of the current conservative right.  Obama is the liberal left in presidential form.</p>
<p>After reading some of Palin&#8217;s recent remarks in a <a href="http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/02/07/transcript-fox-news-sunday-interview-sarah-palin/">Fox interview</a>, though, I have to wonder what God thinks about her stands.</p>
<blockquote><p>However, there are many things that he [Obama]  is doing today that cause an  uneasiness in many, many Americans, I&#8217;m one of those.</p>
<p>Who looks at the way that he is treating the trials of these terrorists  and kind of as gosh, they&#8217;re on a crime spree right now. No, we are in  war. These are acts of these war that these terrorists are committing.  We need to treat them a little bit differently than an American who is  worthy &#8212; an American being worthy of our U.S. constitutional rights. I  don&#8217;t think the terrorists are worthy of our rights that people like my  son fight and are willing to die for.</p></blockquote>
<p>I won&#8217;t argue whether terrorists in America should face military or civilian courts.</p>
<p>What I will argue is that it&#8217;s not just Americans who are &#8220;worthy&#8221; of our U.S. constitutional rights.  It&#8217;s every man, woman, and child on the planet.  God loves them all, and to say that only Americans should be treated decently is the height of hypocrisy.  Our Declaration of Independence states that the rights Palin would deny to terrorists are God-given rights, not United States rights given only to Americans.</p>
<blockquote><p>We hold these truths to be self-evident,  that all men are created equal, that  they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,  that among these are Life, Liberty and  the pursuit of Happiness.</p></blockquote>

<p>Given that the Washington crowd continues to pour money out by the trillion, ignoring the clear will of the people they are supposed to represent, I think this constitutes a clear case of taxation without representation.</p>
<p>According to the First Amendment, we have the right <i>peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.  </i>And some people have already done it:<br /><i><br /></i>

<p>Is it time?<i> </i> Have you finally had enough of Washington power games?  Are you ready to do something about it besides talk?  Then join a Tea Party near you.</p>
<p>There are grass-roots movements all over the country at various times and places.  Here in New York, <a href="http://taxdayteaparty.com/teaparty/new-york/" class="broken_link">Fresh Tea Daily</a> is keeping track of events scheduled for April 15th &#8211; you know, tax day!  As of this moment, there are events listed for Albany, Fishkill, Gardiner, New York City, Rochester, and Staten Island, each with their own facebook page where you can get details and sign up.</p>
<p>If you absolutely can&#8217;t do the 15th, then do a google search and find one in your area on a different day.</p>
<p>If you just can&#8217;t attend an actual protest, you can still get the T-shirt &#8211; or the bumper sticker.</p>

<p>And if you don&#8217;t have enough money to buy a T-shirt or a bumper sticker, you can still participate.   Another group is mailing tea bags to Washington, DC, but they want them all mailed on April 1st, to make sure they get there by &#8211; you guessed it &#8211; the 15th.</p>
<p>So you are out of excuses.  If you want the government to stop giving money away, pick one of the above and just do it.</p>
